Rebecca Castillo, Account Manager

Rebecca is an Account Manager with Clearpoint Creative and has over 5 years in the Recruiting and Staffing industry.  Prior to her work at Clearpoint she started her career in the film and video industry working with companies like Compaq/Hewlett-Packard, Continental Airlines, and Blockbuster Video.

Q: What have been your observations of the recruiting and staffing industry over the last 5 years?

A: Social Media has had a tremendous impact, especially LinkedIn.   Overall the job market has improved greatly the last 3 years here in Houston, and it's a very positive outlook.

Q: What trends have you observed with your clients in 2013?

A: I've noticed that many corporate and Fortune-level clients are hiring recent college graduates with 1-2 years of working experience into entry-level positions, all in an effort to  groom them for future junior to mid-level positions.  It's a breath of fresh air to see these progressive companies focused on engaging  and investing in the next generation of employees preparing for the forthcoming retirees of the Boomer generation.

Q: Do you have any predictions for hiring trends in 2014?

A: I do already see many of our clients looking to further a partnering relationship with us and really looking to us as a trusted advisor of choice for staffing. I also see them looking for ways to speed up the hiring process. Since we know and work with our clients so closely, we already provide many of these services to them, so this is great news for us!

Q: What are the top challenges your clients are facing?

A: Right now, the candidate pool is tight. Some of the contract roles we've seen in the past, such as web development roles, are now moving to direct hire (i.e. permanent). Clients have to make these changes in order to attract and engage this type of candidate specifically. One recent example was when a client engaged us for a 3-month contract for a web developer, then had to alter it to a temp-to-perm opportunity, then ultimately opted to make it a direct-hire opportunity when they identified the candidate they wanted since the candidate was most interested in that scenario. Luckily, we were able to advise our client all along the way on the best strategy for this role, and it worked out for everyone.

Q: What makes Clearpoint Creative different than its competitors?

A: We have a connection with people. We connect with our clients and really work hard to understand their business and their environment. We also make a personal connection with the candidates we represent. The personal touch and synergistic approach is what really makes us different.  Also, the outstanding world-class benefits we offer contractors really set us apart.

Q: What is something surprising that your clients may not know about you?

A: Well, I'm the proud owner of a Chinese Crested Powder Puff. He's my little "Boo Bear" and is 4 years old. He's a rescue and just brings so much joy to my life!  When I'm working, he has a great dog nanny that loves on him when I'm not there. This little guy is spoiled rotten!

Q: What do you want your clients to remember most about you?

A: That they can count on me. I'm dependable, consistent, and I'm always going to do the best I can to help them. I recently had a client tell one of her colleagues, "Call Becca! She's good in a pinch," and I suppose that about sums it up!
