TITLE: Communications Specialist

CLIENT: Energy Company

LOCATION: Princeton, New Jersey

TYPE: Contract (6 to 12 months)

RATE: $35-40.00/hour DOE

SUMMARY:
• Manage corporate communications campaigns to support the execution of strategy initiatives
• Engage corporate stakeholders by building brand recognition and reputation
• Develop compelling content with skilled storylines and facilitate creative PR campaigns
• Coordinate creating content, press releases, articles, and media opportunities to share NRG’s brand, products, and services

DUTIES:
• Execute proactive PR tactics to support broader narrative around corporate communication objectives
• Support execution of corporate communications strategy, including identifying conversation-starting opportunities and writing (blogs, op-eds, social posts) that support company’s vision/mission
• Develop and own relationships with internal stakeholders and shepherd review and approval processes
• Supervise projects to guarantee all content is publication-ready, edited and proofed
• Manage multiple project campaigns in tandem with supporting oversight of 3rd party agency
• Prepare detailed media activity reports, including competitive and industry monitoring and trends
• Provide expert PR counsel to internal clients to manage expectations and education on a variety of issues and experiences that impact
• Proactively identify opportunities tied to product initiatives that reach key stakeholder audiences
• Work closely with internal communications and marketing team to ensure a coordinated effort


REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum of 3 years of related PR or external communications experience, either agency or in-house corporate firm
• Leverage strong research and analytical skills; ability to monitor and analyze industry news and trends; must have a love of news and trends
• Must thrive on collaboration, excited by good creative, and inspired by smart strategy
• Previous experience working with public relations firms and strong media relationships
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills with lens for consumer/social media friendly tone and style
• Organizational skills and an innate ability to stay on top of multiple projects at once
• Understanding of PR planning, strategy initiatives and implementation process
• Must have very strong project management and decision-making skills


EDUCATION:
• BS/BA in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, PR, English or a related field
