Kelsey Davis, Recruiter

Kelsey is a Recruiter with Clearpoint Technology, focused on information technology professionals. She started her career in recruiting and staffing in 2013 and previously was in marketing and sales.

Q: How did you get into recruiting for Clearpoint Technology?

A: I came to know Clearpoint through networking. My dad has instilled in me the importance of networking, and I realize now how right he was! I had interviewed for a job that didn't pan out due to unforeseen circumstances, but luckily I made such an impression on my "would be" boss, that he introduced me to Karl Brunner, General Manager at Clearpoint. One thing led to another, and now I'm here, and I love it!

Q: You have just shy of one year of experience under your belt. Do you have any "Ah-ha" moments thus far about working in the recruiting and staffing industry?

A: Definitely. First, I always thought that recruiting firms were for retail employees only. I didn't realize that there are highly specialized firms that do what we do. Secondly, I also thought it would be a really easy job, no disrespect intended, but so many people think "anybody could do that job" and it's just not true.  This job is really challenging and I have so much more respect for our industry now that I've personally experienced it.

Q: Congratulations on all of your success with Clearpoint Technology, and I might add you've had a lot of early success being that you are new to the industry. What do you attribute this early success to?

A: Everyone on my team here has trained me and helped me get up to speed on information technology and recruiting. We share an open office environment and it's proven invaluable. It's so helpful when they can give me immediate feedback or answer questions on the spot when I have them.  I couldn't ask for a better group of people to work with, not just the technology team, but the whole team here at Clearpoint. Everyone is just so nice!

Q: What are your plans for professional development this year?

A: I'm excited to be going to a big IT training event this Seattle this summer. It will be neat to see and meet recruiters from all over the country and compare notes on other market trends.  I'm also excited about getting more involved in trade associations and user groups here locally in Houston, TX.

Q: What are your thoughts about Clearpoint as an employer?

A: I love Clearpoint. I love the flexibility, support, and culture here. I've worked in other environments that were heavily micro-managed and rigid with a terrible culture. Because of my personal experience, I have even more respect for the company that James and Charelle Webb have built here at Clearpoint. I'm very happy here.

Q: What is something surprising that your clients and candidates might not know about you?

A: I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, specifically a suburb in the South Hills called Bethel Park. This June will be 2 years since moving down to Texas, and I can barely believe it.  I feel like I have only lived here for 6 months!!! What I miss about home the most is my family whom I am extremely close with, the gorgeous hills, winter snow, and fall weather.  That being said, I do enjoy the winters here, and being able to go out in January with a light sweater on is nothing to complain about.  I also love the opportunity to travel and learn about other neighboring states like Louisiana and Arkansas, which I didn't get to do when living up North.

Clearpoint is the staffing partner of choice for many of Houston's top employers. Companies trust us to fill open technology and creative positions with talented professionals because of our successful track record, years of experience, and extensive network of amazing talent.www.clearpointco.com
