Kim Marosis, Recruiter

Kim is a Recruiter with Clearpoint Technology and has more than 14 years of experience in the Recruiting and Staffing industry.

Q: You have recruiting experience as a corporate recruiter and an agency recruiter. What differences have you experienced in those roles?

A: When I was a corporate recruiter some of my colleagues made agencies out to be "annoying and useless," and I had a negative perspective on staffing agencies in the past. I was very loyal to that company, but honestly, I was really blown away once I learned more about how helpful working with an agency can be. I learned a lot as a corporate recruiter, but I really enjoy and prefer working on the agency side. I like the flexibility and variety that agency work provides, it's exciting and fun!

Q: How would you describe your approach to recruiting?

A: I feel I have the ability to find passive candidates, which is essential in today's candidate-driven market. I really enjoy working with our candidates and guiding them through the whole recruiting process, including: the first phone call, interview prep, negotiations, and closing the deal. It's so rewarding and exciting.

Q: What can you tell us about Clearpoint as an employer?

A: It's fabulous on so many levels. I love the people. I love the philosophy of the owners and their good, old fashioned family values. I love that we are rewarded for our hard work and results, not just about the number of calls we make each day. My effort is directly relative to what I earn on my paycheck. I appreciate the work life balance that Clearpoint offers.  Mostly, I love that our management team trusts the employees to do the right thing.

Q: What hiring trends have you experienced in 2013?

A: Hiring is ON fire! I'm talking to a lot of out-of-area candidates who want to move to Houston for the opportunities we have available here. Candidates have choices now, and it's important that hiring managers understand the market and move quickly.

Q: What are your hiring predictions for 2014? What are the "HOT" skills for 2014?

A: Based on how 2014 has started so far, I really hope it continues. We have established ourselves in the community, a great reputation, and relationships, so I expect to continue to be busy with opportunities. I work on a lot of .NET developers, WPF, WCF, SAP roles, a lot of which are contract opportunities. Many of the larger companies tend to hire long-term contract, while I see smaller companies prefer permanent hire.

Q: What are your resolutions for 2014?

A: To make more placements! My strategy is to work hard, be diligent, and to minimize distractions. The more focused I can be, the more I can maximize my time and production.

Q: What don't people know about you that they might be surprised about?

A: I'm an artist and have an Art Minor from college. My personality doesn't "fit" with what the typical "free spirit" that most people think of when you think of artists.  I enjoy doing portrait drawings and painting. I also enjoy getting inspiration from the greats and recreating famous pieces.  I have a pretty darn good "Monet-inspired painting" in my husband's office. All the artwork in my home was created by me, or by my daughter who is also a very talented artist!
